Darrey Hart, who is facing new charges of sexual indecency with a child in Izard County, was in Baxter County Circuit Court  last Thursday.

The 47-year-old Hart made a first appearance on allegations he violated the terms and conditions of his 20-year probation sentence handed down in Baxter County last year by picking up the Izard County charges. In the Baxter County case, Hart’s charges stemmed from a violent incident in late November 2017 in which he is alleged to have attacked his mother and stepfather in their home located along Big Pond Circle where Hart was also reported to be living at the time.

The stepfather said he had gone to the residence for lunch shortly after noon. He said he found out Hart had been arguing with his mother. The stepfather said he told Hart to leave the woman alone so he could go back to work and not have to worry about them fighting.

According to court records, Hart and his stepfather became involved in an altercation. At one point, Hart is said to have retreated to his bedroom and came out wielding a large knife. The stepfather said Hart came at him brandishing the knife. Hart’s mother attempted to get between the two males and began to struggle for the knife as well.

When he was arrested, Hart claimed self-defense. He pled guilty to the charges Aug. 16 last year.

During his appearance on video hook up between the Baxter County jail and the court complex, Hart grumbled he didn’t intend to be “railroaded like I was the last time” and said he wanted to talk to a public defender. He was ordered to reappear Aug. 29.

In Izard County, Hart is charged with two counts of sexual indecency with a child.

According to court records, an Izard County woman contacted law enforcement in late July and reported her 14-year-old daughter had allegedly received a Facebook message from Hart containing sexually explicit photos.

With the mother’s permission, investigators used the daughter’s identity and began “chatting” with Hart through social media. During the chats, Hart reportedly sent six photos of himself – three of them described as sexually explicit.

Investigators said the victim’s social media profile indicates she is 14 years old.

Hart’s bond in Izard County is set at $20,000.
