A Baxter County man has been arrested and is facing deportation after he allegedly stabbed another man during an argument Saturday night. Thirty-six-year-old Carlos Narvaez Ramirez is facing a felony charge from the incident and has a hold placed on him by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

According to the probable cause affidavit in the case, deputies from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office were called to a residence in the Promised Land area shortly after 11 Saturday night for a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, they found a woman who shares the residence with Ramirez rendering aid to the victim who had what authorities described as “heavy arterial blood flow.”

The woman told deputies she was asleep when Ramirez came into the room and woke her up saying he had hurt the victim and was going to be in trouble. The victim told law enforcement he and Ramirez had been drinking and Ramirez became violent and stabbed him in the arm. Ramirez told deputies he was defending himself.

Officers noticed the suspect was wearing a long knife sheath on his belt but he would not tell officers where the knife was. The female described the weapon as a combat-type knife. Officers searched for but were unable to locate the weapon.

Ramirez is charged with a felony count of battery in the first degree. Bond was set at $50,000. ICE has a detainer on Ramirez as a removable alien, meaning he could be deported.
