Fulton County authorities have arrested 54-year-old Kirk Hutchinson, after he allegedly resisted arrested and a sheriff’s deputy was taken to the Fulton County Hospital for treatment of an injury. Hutchinson’s address was not provided in online court documents.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the incident began when Fulton County’s Chief Deputy John Cawvey was patrolling in the Morriston area Aug. 15 and noticed a four-wheeler failing to stop at an intersection.
Cawvey said the four-wheeler was swerving and driving on the wrong side of the road. When he attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled. As he pursued the four-wheeler, it traveled down several county roads, driving on both sides and at one point drove through someone’s yard.
The four-wheeler then came to rest at a residence, and Cawvey attempted to place Hutchison under arrest.
Hutchinson resisted and reportedly attempted to strike other officers in the face. Cawvey said he injured his shoulder and had to seek medical attention. At the time of the report, he was still under the care of a physician for the injury.
The chief deputy said during a search at the time of the arrest, he reportedly located several baggies of an off-white crystalline substance, later field testing positive for methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and mushrooms.
Hutchinson has been charged with felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with the purpose to deliver, methamphetamine and a Schedule I or II drug; use or possession with the purpose to use drug paraphernalia; use or possession with the purpose to use drug paraphernalia with the purpose to repack meth; and battery, as well as misdemeanor counts of fleeing and resisting arrest.
His bond was set at $20,000.
