A Harrison man is accused of stealing a vehicle from a Lakeview residence. Forty-nine-year-old Leslie Newton was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center Sunday evening on a felony count of theft of property and released the next evening on a $5,000 bond.
A Lakeview officer received a call Aug. 28 from a resident on Stamford Drive. The caller claimed Newton took his vehicle from the residence the day before after being told he could not drive any of the owner’s vehicles.
The victim reportedly has outside surveillance cameras at his residence. Newton is allegedly seen on video loading items from the house and garage into the vehicle and driving off. The victim says he repeatedly attempted to call and text Newton but got no response.
Newton was also arrested in July for driving on a suspended license. He is scheduled to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court.
