A Stone County man, 38-year-old Gary Duane Green of Mountain View, has been arrested on drug and weapon-related charges, after his father’s appeal to law enforcement for help fearing his son was going to kill him and his wife.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Green’s father came to the Stone County Sheriff’s Office Aug. 27 saying his son appeared to be on drugs, was irate and agitated at his residence along Red Bird Drive.

He told law enforcement his son had allegedly said, “It all ends today, we (sic) going to die.” He then reportedly grabbed his father by the shirt collar and shoved him. The man said his wife had picked up their shirtless son walking down the road, appearing to be under the influence of an undetermined substance. She reportedly told her husband she was afraid their son was going to hurt one of them and said he had placed his finger to the side of her head and said, “Pow.”

Officers from the sheriff’s office, the Mountain View Police Department and the Mountain View School District Police Department responded to the residence and made entry through the open front door.

They observed a large number of different types of ammunition on the bar in the kitchen and a .20 gauge single barrel shotgun on the kitchen table, with slugs and Number 5 turkey loads nearby.

They also observed a trail of ammunition down the hallway and a jammed .30-.30 rifle on the floor of the first bedroom.

They backed out of the house, set up a perimeter and began attempting negotiations with Green.

Other officers arrived and without the suspect responding, they decided to reenter the home, where they found an open window in Green’s bedroom.

They observed movement on the edge of the woods, and Green allegedly began charging toward them.

He refused to obey commands, was Tased and taken into custody without further incident.

Further investigation revealed the kitchen window shot out, vinyl siding on the back of the residence destroyed with shotgun pellets and a wooden safe inside the residence with its door ripped off. The safe, Green’s father had originally reported locked, had contained the firearms and ammunition.

Green has been charged with felony counts of first-degree criminal mischief, possession of a firearm by certain persons, meaning he is a convicted felon, breaking or entering and terroristic threatending.

His bond was set at $25,000.
