A Marion County man, 42-year-old Jeffrey Joe Ply of Flippin, has been arrested and charged for allegedly breaking into a residence to obtain a check for funds needed to pay the bond for a female companion.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Wednesday, Ply and 30-year-old Anna Lisa Berry went to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in mid-February to allow the woman to pay a fine.

Ply is alleged to have gone to the 76-year-old victim’s residence along Mallard Terrace in Flippin, entered his home without his knowledge and knowing where he kept his checkbook took a check.

A bank video reportedly captured Ply as he went through the drive-thru. Video allegedly captured Ply scribbling something on his lap. The check was then presented with a forged signature made payable to Ply.

After cashing the check and receiving $925, Ply reportedly returned to the Marion County jail to post bail for Berry.

Two members of the sheriff’s office noted they had attempted to contact Ply on several occasions to ask him to come in, discuss the matter and explain his side. He reportedly responded via text on one occasion he would come and talk, but had not responded further.

Ply has been charged with felony counts of burglary, theft, forgery, elderly abuse of a financial nature and conspiracy to defraud.
