This week’s headliner for the Mountain Home Friday Night Block Party is the Leslie Williams Band. Music and activities will begin at 7 on the courthouse square in downtown Mountain Home. The event is free to the public and all are welcome.The Leslie Williams Band, formally Highstrung Band, is a five member country, southern rock and blues band lead by Leslie Williams. They have been performing together for 12 years and cover tunes from the 60s to current top 40.
Leslie Williams of Lakeview sings lead vocals for the band. Williams started singing at 6 years old, then began singing professionally with her mother’s band at 7 years old and played in venues from Louisiana, Mississippi to Arkansas.
Terry Batterton of Mountain Home plays lead guitar. Batterton comes from a musical family and started playing professionally at a young age, playing with his father’s group, Rawhide Band and later known as 100 Proof. He spent the next 20 plus years with Crossfire Band.
Anthony Racaniello from Flippin plays drums and percussion. Racaniello is a long-time percussionist playing venues from the East Coast to Arkansas.
Ken Williams of Mountain Home provides acoustic rhythm guitar and backup vocals. Originally from Mississippi, he grew up on delta blues, southern rock and Country Music.
Lonnie Williams of Lakeview rounds out The Leslie Williams Band on bass guitar. Being Mississippi born, he also shares a love for Blues and Southern Rock.
This week’s block party is sponsored by the Good Samaritan Society of Mountain Home.
A number of food vendors will be on hand selling their specialties, including barbecue, tacos, homemade cream soda, cupcakes, funnel cakes, kettle corn and lemonade, and the Baxter County Historical and Genealogical Society will be selling ice cream sundaes.
All attendees will have a chance to win door prizes during the band’s intermission.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs when they come out to enjoy what has become a summer tradition.
