Man pursued by Branson police drowns in pond

A man being pursued by Branson Police officers reportedly drowned early Sunday morning in a city pond. According to KYTV/KSPR, the male’s name was not released, but authorities say he’s in his 20s or 30s.

The Branson Police Department received a call around 1 a.m. of an individual prowling through cars in the area of Wyndham Branson at the Meadows near Fall Creek and Willow Bend Road. Officers say they located the suspect with evidence of a crime during the investigation, and he ran from police.

As authorities set up a perimiter to locate the suspect, they reportedly heard a commotion in a nearby pond. Officers believe the man went into the pond and drowned.

The body has been recovered, and an investigation is underway.
