A billboard advertising a reward in the murder case of Rebekah Gould was installed this week near Melbourne.

The billboard advertises a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the 15-year-old case.

Gould, who was from Mountain View, was found dead on Sept. 27, 2004 in a wooded area off of State Highway 9 south of Melbourne, seven days after she was reported missing.

Late last year, the unsolved murder case was back in the news thanks to the investigative work of journalist Catherine Townsend of New York.

Townsend’s work was the focus of season one in the podcast Hell and Gone.

In an earlier interview with KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot news, Townsend, a native of southern Arkansas, said after her father and sister moved to Mountain View, she began hearing about the Gould case.

Townsend’s investigative journalism experience coupled with being a licensed private investigator provided her with the skill set to tackle the unsolved murder. Working with the Investigation Discovery network, Townsend took a unique approach to the case, both investigating and telling Gould’s story through the podcast series.

While her work has involved numerous investigations, Townsend says the murder in Izard County spoke to her on a different level.
