MH man with numerous drug charges pleads guilty to newest one

A Mountain Home man with a fairly extensive history of drug-related charges was sentenced to two years undergoing addiction treatment in one of the community corrections centers in the state, and four years of probation during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court last Thursday.

The latest charges against 34-year-old Gilbert James Jesse stem from a traffic stop in mid-December last year. A Mountain Home Police officer began following a vehicle being driven by Jesse, after he noticed the car’s license plate had expired. Things only got worse from there. After Jesse pulled into the driveway of his residence along Bluebird Lane and stopped, the officer discovered Jesse’s driver’s license had also expired.

It was determined during the stop Jesse had been on probation and parole for what was described as “numerous drug offenses.”

The MHPD drug dog was brought to the scene and alerted on Jesse’s vehicle and wallet. During a search of the wallet, the officer found two plastic bags – one of which contained a substance field testing positive for methamphetamine.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Jesse admitted to the officer the methamphetamine was his.

After he had pled to his most recent drug charges, Jesse asked Circuit Judge John Putman to allow him to remain out of jail until bed space opens in one of the Community Correction Centers. Judge Putman said no and Jesse was sent to the Baxter County jail.
