A man with a Lonoke County address is accused of stealing a vehicle from a resort near Lakeview. Eighteen-year-old German Morales Polio of Cabot was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center last Thursday after the sheriff’s office received a tip of him being at a Mountain Home residence.
The victim is an employee at the resort. He reported he parked his vehicle there the previous Sunday, but it was gone when he returned last Wednesday. He said he normally leaves a key in the cupholder for a couple of customers to use the vehicle when they fly in, but they had reportedly not used it. The hedge where the car was parked was damaged. The victim checked with his employees, and they said the car was at the resort last Tuesday.
Surveillance video from the resort reportedly identified Morales Polio as the suspect. A sheriff’s office spokesperson says they received a tip of Morales Polio at a residence on 11th Street. Deputies went to the residence and located Morales Polio and the alleged stolen vehicle.
Morales Polio was charged with a felony count of theft of property. According to jail records, he also faces a misdemeanor count of non-payment of fines. His bond is set at $8,300.
