Food Bank of NCA set for Saturday’s Bridge Bash

The day for the Food Bank of North Central Arkansas’s biggest fundraiser has arrived. The ninth annual Bridge Bash is scheduled for Saturday with the majority of activities being held on the campus of Arkansas State University-Mountain Home.

The opening ceremony will start at 10 a.m. on the main stage. Most of the activities will get underway with food and merchandise vendors, the kid’s korner and the silent auction.

Some Bridge Bash activities will begin before the silent auction. Registration for the Paddle for Hunger Kayak Race will start at 8 at Big Spring Park in downtown Cotter, and the race will get underway an hour later. The 5k Run for Hunger will be held at the university’s main gate with the same start times as the kayak race.

Registration for the disc golf tournament will begin at 8:30 at the first hole behind Roller Hall, and the tournament will start at 9. In addition, the Bridge Bash Rides Car, Truck and bike show will begin at 9 south of the main gate, and the awards will be given at 3 on the main stage.

The Baggo tournament will be held in the Baggo tent near the kids’ korner with registration beginning at 10:30 and the tournament starting at 11. A dog costume contest will be held at 11 in the kids’ korner.

The entertainment on the main stage will get underway at 11 with the Cowgill Family serving as the opening act. The Daybreak Quartet and Hannah and Hannah will take the stage at noon, Andy Tanas will perform at 12:30, Patient Eyes will play at 2, and the Kattie Laney Project is scheduled for 4:30. Following the Stand Up for Hope Ceremony at 5, Nashville recording artist Dan Smalley will be the headliner with his performance beginning at 6.

The Food Bank’s goal at Bridge Bash is to collect 500,000 meals to be distributed across its nine-county area. In addition, volunteers are set to package another 100,000 meals throughout the day. Packaging shifts will be at 11, 12:30, 2 and 3:30.
