A 70-year-old rural Mountain Home man pled guilty to charges stemming from an alcohol-fueled confrontation with his 50-year-old girlfriend early this year.
Gary Lee Bean was put on probation for three years during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday. Bean was sentenced under provisions of Act 346. If he remains out of trouble during his probation period, he can apply to the court to have his record sealed.
On March 4, Baxter County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic dispute call at an address along U.S. Highway 62/412 East The caller, identifying herself as Linda Evans, said Bean was intoxicated and throwing things around the camper trailer where they lived.

Before the deputies arrived, Bean allegedly knocked the cellphone out of Evans’ hands to prevent her from talking further to a 911 dispatcher.
When the deputies did reach the scene, they reported hearing Bean yelling threatening remarks at Evans inside the camper trailer. When they entered the trailer, they saw broken items on the floor.
According to the probable cause affidavit, both Bean and Evans “had an odor of intoxicants coming from their person,” and were reported slurring their words.
Bean was found to have a bottle of peppermint schnapps next to him and Evans a bottle of vodka close to her. The deputies also found a medicine bottle in Bean’s pocket containing 14 pills identified as narcotic pain killers. Another pill of the same type was found next to where Bean was sitting after he arrived at the county jail.
Initially, Bean refused to admit ownership of the pill bottle taken from his pocket.
The deputies reported Bean cursed them and said he was not going to be taken to jail. He finally stood when ordered and was handcuffed.
Evans was found to have warrants seeking her arrest from the Mountain Home Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
She was reported to have taken advantage of the time before she was cuffed to drink as much out of the vodka bottle next to her as possible. And, Evans was not through for the night. When she got to the Baxter County Detention Center, she was reported to have reached out and grabbed a deputy in the crotch.
