A Searcy County juvenile is back home after being reported missing. According to Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell, the 17-year-old St. Joe resident was located over the weekend in a suburb of Kansas City.

The sheriff’s office received a call from a male saying his son couldn’t be found. The father was not sure of the exact day and time the juvenile left.

Sheriff Cassell says the juvenile was entered into the National Crime Information Center as a missing person. Later, the sheriff and his personnel discovered the juvenile may have possibly traveled to Olathe, Kansas, because he has friends and family members in the area.

Following a joint investigation between the Searcy County Sheriff’s Office and the Olathe Police Department, the juvenile was located early Sunday morning at a fast food restaurant in Overland Park, Kansas. The teen was housed in Olathe until Sheriff Cassell and Chief Deputy Dewayne Pierce arrived and returned him to Arkansas.

Sheriff Cassell says the case has since been turned over to the juvenile authorities.
