The Baxter County Health Unit is reporting Tuesday’s mass flu shot clinic was the biggest turnout since the threat of the H1N1 flu 10 years ago. The health unit teamed up with Arkansas State University nursing students from Mountain Home and Jonesboro for the drive-through clinic at the ASU-Mountain Home campus, and a total of 458 vaccines were administered from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Health unit administrator Lou Anne McLendon says personnel had to relocate from their original position due to the weather.
Listen:
McLendon says the Baxter County Health Unit employees were encouraged by the northwest regional team of the Arkansas Department of Health to get out in the community and hold their mass flu clinic in an open location where patrons can drive through and receive their vaccine. She adds there’s a high probability they will have next year’s clinic at the same location.
