CLINTON, Mo. (AP) The parents of a Missouri police officer who was fatally
shot after being dispatched to the wrong address are suing, along with three
other current and former officers.

The Kansas City Star reports that the four joint lawsuits were filed earlier
this year against the Henry County 911 center and the provider of the county’s
emergency system.

Clinton police Officer Christopher Ryan Morton was responding to a 911 call in
March 2018 when he was sent to a home about 15 miles (24 kilometers) away from
where the call originated. A man living in the home killed Morton and wounded
two other officers, including one who is among the plaintiffs. The gunman was
later found dead inside the home.

Attorneys representing the defendants have denied the allegations of
negligence.
