Two people have been arrested in Izard County in connection with an alleged indoor marijuana grow operation.

Izard County Sheriff Earnie Blackley says 46-year-old Kenneth Douglas Smith and 37-year-old Amy Lee Smith of Sage were arrested after deputies from his department, agents from the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force and Arkansas State Police officers executed a search warrant at the Smiths’ residence.

Sheriff Blackley says during the execution of the warrant, officers reportedly located several marijuana plants growing inside the residence, along with marijuana being processed.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Monday, officers also sized four rifles, two shotguns, a digital timer and 31 cut stalks of green vegetable material in the master bedroom room area and closet of the residence.

The Smiths have been charged with manufacturing a controlled substance, possession with purpose to deliver a controlled substance, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and simultaneous possession of drug and firearms, all felonies.

Kenneth Smith was given a bond of $30,000 and Amy Smith a bond of $20,000. The two are set to appear in Izard County Circuit Court in October.
