MH begins conference play Friday at Jonesboro

,High school football makes up much of the Friday schedule, as most teams around Arkansas will begin conference play. Mountain Home will start 6A-East action on the road, as they meet Jonesboro.

The Bombers are currently 0-3 on the season. Mountain Home’s last game was two weeks ago, when they went to the other side of Jonesboro and suffered a two-point loss to Nettleton.

Jonesboro comes into the game ranked third in Class 6A by the Arkansas Sports Media. The Hurricane fell to 2-1 two weeks ago, when they lost at Conway.

Bombers head coach Bryan Mattox says the team is ready for the challenge, after their performance two weeks ago.

Kickoff at Cooksey-Johns Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com. Coverage begins around 5:30, with Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas High School Gameday show.

Elsewhere in the 6A-East, Searcy travels to Jacksonville, Sylvan Hills makes the trip to Pine Bluff and Marion heads to West Memphis.

Yellville-Summit will begin 3A-2 play in front of the home crowd. The Panthers will wrap up their two-game home stand by taking on Melbourne.

Yellville-Summit brings an 0-3 record into the contest. The Panthers lost to Berryville last Friday.

Melbourne is currently undefeated in three games on the year. The Bearkatz played their last game two weeks ago, when they went on the road and beat up on Cave City.

The celebration of Yellville-Summit’s 50th season of high school football continues this week. The teams of the 1990s will be recognized.

Kickoff at Panther Field is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Also in the 3A-2, Marshall travels to Rose Bud, Mountain View makes the trip to Newark to play Cedar Ridge and Clinton hosts Harding Academy.

Harrison starts action in the 5A-West as they entertain Morrilton. The Goblins are the top-ranked team in Class 5A and No. 7 overall, according to the Arkansas Sports Media. The Devil Dogs are the fourth-ranked team in Class 5A.

Salem is idle this week. The Greyhounds will start 2A-3 action next Friday, when they face Rector in front of the home crowd.

It’s the fifth week of the season in Missouri. Among area schools, West Plains heads to Lebanon, Hollister is home against Marshfield, Forsyth hosts Pierce City, Branson travels to Joplin, Ava entertains Salem, Missouri, Willow Springs makes the trip to Mountain View-Liberty, Thayer is home against Houston and Mountain Grove hosts Cabool.
