Matt Sutton presented a program regarding the school-based mental health program at Mountain Home Public Schools during a Rotary Club of Mountain Home meeting in late August. Sutton is the coordinator/therapist for the school-based mental health program.
Sutton explained what school officials are doing to secure help for those students who are being bullied at school, feeling threatened at home, becoming more isolated and possibly considering suicide.
Sutton told the Rotarians school officials are working closely with mental health professionals, school counselors and even local youth pastors to help identify those young people at risk. He also said much of the expense of this school-based program is covered by Medicaid.
