
Baxter County Treasurer Jenay Mize and Mountain Home Treasurer Rita Murray are reporting another positive month for sales tax collections in September, reflecting spending in July.
Mize says the increase in numbers are due in part to the heavy tourism in the Twin Lakes Area.

For the city of Mountain Home, Murray says collections from the county were $191,049, up $4,585 or 2.46 percent from 2018. Proceeds from the city’s sales taxes received in September were $187,781, up $6,617 or 3.65 percent from the prior year. Collections for Mountain Home’s public safety tax for the month were $162,711, up nearly $4,963 or 3.15 percent from last year.
The Baxter County sales tax is divided among the county and its eight municipalities. In addition to Mountain Home, Gassville took in $31,892, Cotter received $14,887, Lakeview got $11,372, Norfork took in $7,842, Salesville received $6,906, Briarcliff had $3,622, and Big Flat’s share was $1,596.
