
It’s an unusually busy Saturday with basketball on the local schedule.
On the high school level, the Twin Rivers Classic will come to an end at Norfork. The girls’ game between Alpena and Marmaduke will tip off at 10:45, St. Joe’s boys will meet Alpena at noon, the Timbo boys will face South Side-Bee Branch at 1:15, Bruno-Pyatt’s girls will take on Timbo at 2:30, the Mountain Home Christian Academy girls will be paired South Side at 3:45, Norfork will play a doubleheader against Bergman starting with the boys at 5, and Cotter will wrap up the classic with back-to-back games against Deer at 7:30.
A few area schools will send their junior high teams to Sloan-Hendrix High School in Imboden for the opening day of the Bill McCurley Invitational Tournament. Viola will play a doubleheader against the host Junior Greyhound teams starting with the girls at 9 a.m., Mammoth Spring’s girls will meet Maynard at 11:30, the Izard County boys face Tuckerman at 12:45, Mammoth Spring’s boys will take on Hillcrest at 3:15, and the Izard County girls will play Hillcrest at 4:30.
Saturday will also be the first day for the Jasper Junior High Tournament. The girls’ game between Lead Hill and Oark will tip off at 4 p.m., Western Grove’s boys will be matched up with Oark at 5:15, and Omaha will play back-to-back games against Mount Judea starting with the girls at 6:30.
Flippin will host a seventh grade jamboree on Saturday. In girls’ action, Bergman and Kingston will tip off at 9 a.m., and Flippin will meet Bergman at 9:40 and Kingston at 10:20. The boys’ games will be in the same order starting at 11.
