A plea agreement calling for a 15-year probation sentence for 28-year-old Tessie Churchman of Henderson did not sit well with Circuit Judge John Putman.
After a short conversation with attorneys for both the state and defense during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday, Judge Putman said while he did not like the terms of the plea, he would follow the recommended sentence contained in the agreement.
Churchman was facing drug-related charges in two active cases, one opened in January and the other in February.
In January, officers went to Churchman’s residence along County Road 869 in an attempt to locate a fugitive. During a search of the home, officers discovered a number of used syringes. The syringes contained residue from Roxicett, a Schedule II controlled substance. In addition, a white residue was found on some items of drug paraphernalia field testing positive for methamphetamine.
The second arrest came the next month when officers went to the same residence, reported to be shared by Churchman and Nicholas Weeks. Again, the officers found drug paraphernalia.
