Mountain Home wins 2 conference cross country championships

The Mountain Home High School cross country teams won a pair of conference championships in the 5A East Conference meet held in Mountain Home Monday afternoon.

The senior boys dominated the race with seven of the top 11 runners and 16 of the top 27 in the race. The Bombers were led by Whit Lawrence and Andrew Westphal who finished 1-2. Jacob Pyeatt was third, Bob Allen fifth and Ky Bickford finished sixth.

Mountain Home finished with 17 points, while second place Jonesboro had 53.

In the senior girl’s race, Mountain Home had five of the top 11 runners. Marcie Cudworth easily won the race, finishing more than 90 seconds faster than any other runner. Rylee Patterson was second, Kayla McMaster finished sixth, Britney Jenkins was tenth and Bella Bevel was eleventh.

Mountain Home scored 28 points, while second place Jonesboro had 39.

In the junior boy’s race, Mountain Home finished third. Hendrix Hughes won the race, beating the second place runner by over 43 seconds. Ryan Amick finished eleventh.

Mountain Home finished third in the junior girl’s race. Mountain Home’s top runner was Whitney Wilber who finished ninth.
