A Mountain Home man has been arrested after he allegedly took his infant son from the child’s mother without permission. Nineteen-year-old Rafael Josue Sanchez is facing two felony charges for the Tuesday morning incident.

According to the incident report in the case, a Baxter County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to the residence where the infant’s mother lives. She told the deputy she was sleeping and awoke to find Sanchez in her house. She told the deputy Sanchez then picked the infant up and said, “I want my son and I’m taking him.” He then left with the boy. She told the deputy she and Sanchez have never been married, and there is no custody agreement, but he did not have permission to take the infant.

The deputy then went to Sanchez’s mother’s house where he found the father with the infant. Sanchez told the deputy he was invited to the woman’s house and had an agreement with the infant’s mother through text messaging concerning custody.

Sanchez was taken into custody, and the child was returned to his mother.

Sanchez is facing felony charges of residential burglary and interference with custody. His bond is set at $25,000.
