
The Norfork High School basketball teams had a rough outing at home Friday night, as they were swept by Western Grove. The Lady Panthers were edged out by the Lady Warriors 44-40. Norfork did not fare any better in the boys’ contest, as they lost to Western Grove 78-50.
Flippin had a good homecoming night, as their high school teams swept Timbo. The girls’ game ended with the Lady Bobcats topping the Lady Tigers 68-14. Flippin’s boys later beat Timbo 70-37.
Bruno-Pyatt was unable to spoil Izard County’s homecoming, as they were swept at the Cougar Den.
The Patriots lost the senior boys’ game to the defending Class 1A state champs by a final of 76-41. Zach Simmons led Izard County with 17 points, and Justus Cooper added 10. The Cougars improve to 6-0 on the season and 3-0 in the 1A-2.
Bruno-Pyatt also fell to Izard County 60-39 in the senior girls’ contest. The Lady Cougars were led by Allison Newman with 19 points, and Emily Jackson and Cassidy Coleman chipped in 13 points each. Izard County is now 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the league.
Izard County also took the junior boys’ game 47-29. Noah Stevenson was the Junior Cougars’ top scorer with 22 points.
The Viola boys picked up another victory on their home floor. The Longhorns defeated St. Joe 73-33.
Mammoth Spring won both of its high school games over Maynard.
The Lady Bears invoked the mercy rule, as they pounded the Lady Tigers 65-31. Lauren Mitchell paced Mammoth Spring with 20 points, Chevelle Graves scored 14, and Terra Godwin had 11. The Lady Bears improve to 6-1 on the year and 1-0 in the 1A-3, and they’ll host Manila on Monday.
The boys’ contest was also lopsided, as Mammoth Spring routed Maynard 58-32. The Bears were led by Alex Mero with 21 points, and Cole Young finished with 14. Mammoth Spring is 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference, and they’ll head to Monette on Tuesday to meet Buffalo Island Central.
Calico Rock’s boys had a rough night on the road. The Pirates went to Omaha and fell to the Eagles 59-39.
Rural Special’s high school teams were swept by Wonderview Friday at Hattieville. The Lady Rebels were edged out by the Lady Daredevils 53-50. Wonderview also won the boys’ game over Rural Special 72-60.
The Lead Hill High School teams had a good homecoming night,as they picked up a pair of victories over Mount Judea. The Lady Tigers beat up on the Lady Eagles 75-21. Lead Hill’s boys also beat Mount Judea 55-29.
Bergman’s girls went to Marmaduke to compete in the Fight Like a Girl Classic on Friday. The Lady Panthers fell to the host Lady Greyhounds 68-53.
The Valley Springs High School teams dominated Kingston for homecoming. The Lady Tigers destroyed the Lady Yellowjackets 81-28. The boys’ game also needed the mercy rule, as Valley Springs pounded Kingston 72-37.
Mountain Home Christian Academy was able to sweep Lebanon in three games at home.
The Eagles routed the Rockets 73-27 in the varsity boys’ game. Caleb Spray was Mountain Home Christian’s leading scorer with 25 points, Trenton Cox scored 13, and Weston Weaver added ten.
Mountain Home Christian also took the varsity girls’ contest over Lebanon 57-44. Naomi Spray led the Lady Eagles with 25 points.
The night began with the 14-and-under boys’ game as Mountain Home Christian beat Lebanon 59-27. The 14-and-under Eagles were led by Gabe Spray with 20 points, Gabriel Rogers had 14, and Jordan Woods chipped in 11.
Mountain Home picked up a pair of junior high boys’ victories at Cave City.
The Eighth Grade Bombers topped the eighth grade Cavemen 28-16. Mountain Home starts the season and 1-0.
In the earlier game, Mountain Home’s seventh graders beat Cave City 32-10.
