A trial date has been set for a 29-year-old Baxter County man charged with doing extensive damage to a mobile home the owner had let the man live in, as well as allegedly stealing a number of items from the residence.
Colton Michael Wamser, who has listed himself as homeless in some court records, is now set to go on trial in early January.
The owner of the mobile home told police Wamser had stayed in it rent free about six months. He was required to do some light repair work and to keep utility bills paid in lieu of rent.
On Nov. 16, 2018, the owner advised Wamser he was not keeping his end of the bargain. No work had been done and utility bills had not been paid as promised. She told him he needed to be out in 10 days. The owner returned to inspect the property Nov. 26 and found extensive damage to the trailer and a number of items missing.
She said the damage to the mobile home was so extensive, it exceeded the value of the trailer itself. The owner reported every wall had numerous holes punched or kicked in them. She said various items of household furniture and appliances had been damaged or destroyed.
In addition, three chainsaws, two yard trimmers, numerous hand tools and sports memorabilia were reported missing or destroyed. Investigators discovered Wamser had allegedly started pawning or selling the chainsaws only three days after moving into the mobile home in May last year.
