As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, a local organization is preparing for one of its biggest events while looking to make the holiday a little easier for those less fortunate. The Salvation Army of Mountain Home will host its annual Thanksgiving lunch Thursday from 11 to 1 at its location at 121 Arkansas Highway 201 North.

The Salvation Army is projecting to serve 500 people at the luncheon. The meal is free of charge and includes turkey, ham, several side courses and different desserts including a couple that are sugar-free. If someone knows of an elderly individual unable to go to the Salvation Army, to-go plates will be available.

Salvation Army Corps Assistant Bryan Brinlee says volunteers are still needed for Thursday’s luncheon. He adds as an organization, the Thanksgiving luncheon is an event they take a lot of pride in.

Brinlee is also reminding the community of the Salvation Army angel trees throughout various locations in Mountain Home. He says they are seeking volunteers to assist with the angel trees, and this year, they have new teen angel trees.
