A Boone County jury has found a former nurse guilty of a misdemeanor count of indecent exposure.
Online court records indicate following the trial Monday, Circuit Judge John Putman sentenced 29-year-old Toby Cordova to a year of probation.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Cordova was arrested and charged in May in connection with an incident occurring in October 2018 at a Harrison fitness center.
A female exercising at the fitness center reported Cordova would walk back and forth from the bathroom acting “very strange.” He then reportedly sat down on a workout machine across from the woman while exposing himself.
The woman relocated to another area of the gym, but Cordova moved as well.
She then decided to exit the center, with Cordova walking past her and again exposing himself. He repeated the behavior when the woman got to her vehicle.
At least a portion of Cordova’s actions were captured on the business’ video.
While that case is closed, online court records indicate a second one remains open.
In April, Cordova was arrested and charged with felony sexual assault in connection with an incident reported in February while he was employed as a nurse in the emergency room at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison.
He reportedly admitting to fondling a female patient in his care who was heavily medicated.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the patient told investigators she woke up in the emergency room and her hand was in Cordova’s pants and making contact with his genitalia.
Cordova told investigators the patient, prior to being medicated, asked him about his tattoos and asked if he wanted to take his shirt off to show them to her. After the medicine the victim was given began to take effect, Cordova says she suggested she, her husband and him could “have some fun.” Cordova told police the victim’s husband was standing there during the statement.
Cordova said the only time he was alone with the patient was when he was trying to get a blood pressure reading before she was discharged, and her husband had stepped out of the room. He told investigators the patient was moving her arm around, and he had to hold it down to get a correct reading.
A few days after his initial interview with police, Cordova was brought back in for a polygraph examination. Authorities say Cordova answered the questions during the test with unsatisfactory results. Following the exam, he admitted to investigators he had fondled the patient’s breasts.
Earlier this week, Judge Putman, upon a request from Cordova’s attorney, Phillip Moon of Harrison, granted a continuance in the case.
