A 21-year-old Mountain Home man faces two sex-related charges in relation to an incident earlier this year.
According to an affidavit filed in Baxter County Circuit Court, Jacob E.R. Lathan was arrested Wednesday on a felony charge of sexual assault in the fourth degree and a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
An investigation began in early October after the Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline received a report a 14-year-old female allegedly exchanged a sex act in return for a ride from a male in the Norfork area.
In interviews with the victim in the case, authorities learned Lathan allegedly gave two girls a ride to their requested destination, then took them to a campground in the Jordan area, where the act took place.
On Oct. 26, an investigator from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office interviewed Lathan, who claimed the girls asked for a ride to buy drugs from two unnamed males. The affidavit says Lathan then admitted that he had participated in a sex act with both girls.
Lathan was arrested, booked into the Baxter County Detention Center and released on a $5,000 bond.
