A Cherokee Village woman was jailed Tuesday in the Baxter County Detention Center, seven months after she allegedly provided contraband at the facility.

Thirty-one-year-old Amber Lynch Beach faces felony charges of furnishing, possession or using prohibited articles. Beach turned herself in to authorities after an arrest warrant was issued on Nov. 8.

Captain Jeff Lewis of the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office says he recalled paperwork for the charges against Beach were delayed due to her pregnancy.

Documents filed in Baxter County Circuit Court allege Beach visited the detention center on May 11 and dropped off a Bible for Joshua Coleman, an inmate at the time.

Jailer Ethan Raymond examined the Bible a day later and found photos were stuck between the pages, sparking further investigation. Authorities found the spine of the book had been altered, with Raymond discovering parts of the spine and front cover had been glued shut.

Raymond would locate five cigarettes stuffed in the spine of the book, violating the jail’s policy of no tobacco products. Jail staff reviewed video surveillance and identified Beach as the person who delivered the contraband.

Beach remains jailed on a $5,000 bond, with online jail records also indicating a parole violation.
