BC sales tax collections going up, up, up

Santa must have been shopping early and filling his bag to the brim. Baxter County Treasurer Jenay Mize says sales tax collections for November, reflecting spending in October, were up significantly.

Over at the City of Mountain Home, Treasurer Marshella Norell says collections from the county were $189,489, up $21,437 or 12.75% from the prior year.

Year-to-date county sales tax received by the city is up $80,007 or 4.17%.

The city sales tax received in November was $429,582, up $37,717 or a 9.62% increase over November of 2018.

Year-to-date city sales tax generated is up 1.95%. This percentage factors in the overpayment of sales tax paid back during the months of January through August of 2018 in the amount of $431,200.

The public safety tax received was $161,093. The amount is up $14,144 over November of 2018 or a 9.62% increase.

The Baxter County sales tax in divided among the county and the eight municipalities. In addition to Mountain Home, Gassville took in $31,632, Cotter received $14,765, Lakeview got $11,279, Norfork took in $7,778, Salesville received $6,850, Briarcliff had $3,592 and Big Flat’s share was $1,583.
