The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Mountain Home Project Office is offering 50 fish cover permits on a first-come, first-served basis for Bull Shoals and Norfork lakes.

The permits are available at the Mountain Home Project Office, located at 324 West Seventh Street in Mountain Home.

A fish cover permit allows an individual to cut up to eight cedar trees, two of which can be up to 10 inches in diameter with the remaining ones being 6 inches or smaller in diameter, at the stump. The trees can be cut from designated areas of the shoreline.

Individuals may pick up dead trees or branches along the shore and sink them into the lake for fish habitat as well.

The Corps says many of the best fishing locations on Bull Shoals and Norfork lakes are over brush piles that attract and hold various species of fish.

Questions may be directed to the Mountain Home Project Office at 870-425-2700, ext. 1433.
