
High school basketball makes up the local Friday schedule, as Mountain Home’s teams will begin a three-game home stand. It’s Sweetheart Royalty night, and the first half of conference play will come to an end for the Bombers and Lady Bombers, as West Memphis comes into the Twin Lakes Area.
The girls’ game will pair a couple of teams part of a three-way tie for the lead in the 5A-East. Mountain Home’s girls are ranked fourth in Class 5A by the Arkansas Sports Media. The Lady Bombers are 16-3 on the season and 5-1 in the league after beating Searcy on Tuesday. West Memphis is 16-4 and 5-1. The Lady Blue Devils are coming off a 12-point win over Greene County Tech.
The Mountain Home boys are 11-8 overall and 2-4 in the conference. The Bombers suffered an eight-point loss at Searcy three nights ago. West Memphis is at the top of the league standings at 16-3 and 6-0. The Blue Devils beat up on Tech on Tuesday.
The junior varsity boys’ game tips off at 5 p.m. at Bomber Gymnasium. The varsity contests begin around 6 and can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and ktlo.com.
Elsewhere in the 5A-East, Searcy travels to Jonesboro to meet Nettleton, Jonesboro hosts Marion, and Paragould makes the short trip across the city to face Tech.
Dora’s girls will be in Mansfield for the consolation semifinals of the Lady Lion Invitational Tournament. The Lady Falcons take on Conway at 6 p.m.
In other high school action, Mountain Home Christian Academy’s boys will be in a tournament at Lebanon, Cotter entertains Decatur, Flippin is home against Eureka Springs, Yellville-Summit hosts Haas Hall Academy, Bruno-Pyatt entertains Calico Rock, Salem is home against Buffalo Island Central, Izard County travels to Western Grove, St. Joe makes the trip to Oark, Marshall hosts Valley Springs, Timbo entertains Mount Vernon-Enola, Rural Special is home against Shirley for Senior Night, Lead Hill heads to Deer, Bergman travels to Clinton, and Jasper makes the trip to Mount Judea.
Viola was scheduled to play at Omaha but the games have been postponed until Monday.
