
Mountain Home Christian Academy’s high school basketball teams had a rough night at home Tuesday, as they were swept by Izard County.
The boys’ game ended with the Eagles falling to the Cougars 76-40. Caleb Spray was Mountain Home Christian’s top scorer with 23 points. For Izard County, Justus Cooper had 17 points, and Isaac Jones finished with 10. The Cougars’ record is now at 31-5.
The evening began with Mountain Home Christian’s girls losing to Izard County 61-35. The Lady Cougars improve to 15-15 on the year.
Norfork’s girls were able to pick up a win on the road. The Lady Panthers beat Concord 53-48.
Flippin came away with a sweep over Yellville-Summit. The Bobcats took the boys’ game over the Panthers 63-43. Flippin’s girls also topped Yellville-Summit 60-37.
The Bruno-Pyatt girls had a successful Senior Night. The Lady Patriots ended up with a 56-38 win over Timbo.
Gainesville was able to pick up a sweep at Fordland. The Bulldogs defeated the Eagles 72-53 in the boys’ game. The outing started with Gainesville’s girls beating Fordland 46-38.
Dora’s boys captured the White River Conference Championship by topping Lutie 88-49. Isaac Haney paced the Falcons with 26 points, Auston Luna scored 15, Bryson Luna had 12, and Mason Luna added 10 points. Dora is now 22-2 on the season.
Viola was able to dominate Green Forest at home. The mercy rule was put in effect in the girls’ game, as the Lady Longhorns tripled up the Lady Tigers 72-24. The Viola boys later pounded Green Forest 73-46.
Salem was swept on its home floor at the hands of Mammoth Spring.
The Lady Greyhounds began the night by falling to the Lady Bears 53-48. Mammoth Spring was led by Terra Godwin with 25 points, and Lauren Mitchell chipped in 20. The Lady Bears’ record improves to 22-6.
Salem’s boys later lost to Mammoth Springs 59-47. Alex Mero was the Bears’ leading scorer with 18 points, Cole Young finished with 14, and Zack Flynn and Clint Lester ended up with 12 points each. Mammoth Spring now has a mark of 20-12.
Both Mammoth Spring teams will host Riverside on Friday.
Melbourne was able to sweep Mountain View for its Senior Night.
The girls’ game paired a couple of the Arkansas Sports Media’s No. 1’s, and it ended with the Lady Bearkatz beating the Lady Yellowjackets 54-30. Melbourne is the top-ranked team in Class 2A, and Mountain View has the top spot in Class 3A.
The Bearkatz later took the boys’ game over Mountain View 54-30.
St. Joe’s boys picked up a win on their home court. The Wildcats got past Mount Judea by a final of 62-52.
Rural Special had mixed results, as they hosted Pangburn. The Lady Rebels defeated the Lady Tigers 64-48. The Rural Special boys had a different result, as they lost to Pangburn 82-48.
Lead Hill ended up getting swept at Kingston. The Tigers fell to the Yellowjackets 75-65 in the boys’ game. Lead Hill also lost the girls’ contest to Kingston 53-37.
Omaha came away with a split, as they hosted Alpena. The Eagles put the mercy rule in effect in the boys’ game, as they beat up on the Leopards 78-46. Omaha’s girls were not as fortunate, as they fell to Alpena 52-47.
Western Grove had a short but successful road trip, as they swept Jasper. The boys’ game ended up with the Warriors topping the Pirates 69-61. The night began with the Western Grove girls beating Jasper 80-58.
