MHHS thespians earn honors

The Mountain Home High School thespians have returned from the 2020 Arkansas State Theatre Festival, where 1,400 students gathered at Arkansas State University-Jonesboro to perform for adjudication. This year’s theme was WeARtheFuture.

Awards of excellence for acting and musical theatre were given to Rayne Tilley, Aidan Wilson, Elizabeth Britt, Grace Avants, Emily Strain, Miranda Heitman, Nate Duval, Sierra Trogdon, Daisy Woodbury, Isabelle Babin, Myia Treat, Makena Wright, Levi Priborsky, Laura Wheat, Joia Traver, Mia Green and Kira Tilley.

Amberly Schaffer, Rachel Robertson and Suzanna Pickers received superiors for their costume and scenic designs and have qualified for competition at the International Thespian Festival in June at the University of Indiana.

Senior Ashton Kincade was awarded the Educational Theatre Association Technical Theatre Scholarship. 

Director of Theatre Karen Maupin was awarded the Gail Burns Theatre Educator of the Year by the Arkansas chapter of the Educational Theatre Association.
