earMUSICDeep Purple has released the first single and lead track from their forthcoming studio album, Whoosh!, a melodic, upbeat rock tune titled “Throw My Bones.”

The track features a wailing solo by guitarist Steve Morse and also is driven by Don Airey‘s keyboards.

The song is available for purchase now digitally and via streaming platforms, and you also can check it out at Deep Purple’s official YouTube channel.

In addition, the track’s official video has premiered at the earMUSIC label’s YouTube channel. The clip shows a man in a space suit wandering around different places on the Earth, including city streets, a nonprofessional soccer game, a highway, beaches, waterfalls in a forest, an airport, and a space center, where he watches a rocket being launched. He eventually winds up in a sandy desert, where we see him begin to disintegrate, basically recreating the Whoosh! cover.

The band explains that Whoosh! features songs that address “resentments and ideas about our current world, with a message geared towards all generations,” while noting that the “Throw My Bones” video reflects the album’s message, “extending an invitation to take a step back and see the bigger picture.”

The statement adds, “It’s a call to observe the planet, and take action.”

Whoosh!, Deep Purple’s 21st studio album, will be released on June 12.
