A woman was killed in a house fire early Sunday morning in Harrison. The victim is identified as 46-year-old Amber West.
Harrison Police say the call came into 911 at 7:30 Sunday morning for a fire at apartments at 210 North Willow behind Dollar General. Patrolman Davey Peter was first on the scene. A witness told the officer there was someone still in apartment Number 1, but the officer could not attempt to gain entry because the unit was engulfed.
The Harrison Fire Department arrived, and firemen were able to pull West from the fire, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Harrison Police Chief Chris Graddy says the building has four apartments, and two of them are a total loss after the blaze, with the other two sustaining damage.
The Harrison police and fire departments are continuing their investigation into the fire.
