Izard County authorities have arrested 29-year-old Stephanie N. William following an incident Sunday when the vehicle she was driving reportedly crossed the centerline of the roadway, nearly striking a patrol unit head-on. Online records do not contain an address for William.

According to the probable cause affidavit, an Izard County deputy sheriff was patrolling on Arkansas Highway 56 and had to heavily apply his brakes to avoid a collision, as he passed an oncoming car. The driver of the car, later identified as William, reportedly jerked the wheel of her vehicle, bringing it back into the correct lane.

The deputy turned around and initiated a traffic stop. William allegedly told the deputy she was tired after having just worked a 16-hour shift as a licensed practical nurse at a local nursing home. She reportedly told the deputy she does not drink and had not taken anything. She consented to a series of field sobriety tests.

A second deputy arrived on the scene and deployed K9 Mindy. The K9 is reported to have alerted on the driver’s side door of William’s vehicle. The nurse allegedly told the deputies she had a methamphetamine pipe in the center console of the vehicle.

During a search of the vehicle, the pipe was located, along with a white crystal substance inside William’s purse, field testing positive for meth. Also found were a yellow strip labeled Suboxone and a variety of pills, including Schedule 2, 3 and 4 narcotics.

William has been charged with six drug possession-related charges. Her bond was set at $10,000.
