Arkansas State University-Mountain Home (ASUMH) has revised the start date for its fall semester, moving the date out to Aug. 24. Originally, the semester was set to begin Aug. 17.
In a website update Thursday from ASU-Mountain Home Chancellor Dr. Robin Myers, he noted the new start date will coincide with most ot the public schools in the area.
The ASUMH campus is set to resume regular hours of operation on Monday, after following revised summer hours of operation.
Beginning Monday, offices will resume operating from 8 to 5 Monday through Friday. Some offices will continue to operate remotely Aug. 3 through Aug. 10. Doors will be unlocked for student access beginning Aug. 10.
Earlier, ASU-Mountain Home officials noted preparations for the fall semester were underway, with various options to be offered for enrolling at the local college in response to the coronavirus.
The university will have in-person classes with social distancing, online classes and a combination of the two using Zoom Classrooms.
Associate Vice Chancellor for Marketing and Community Relations Christy Keirn, in an earlier visit to KTLO-FM’s Talk of the Town, said new technology was being installed in 34 classrooms in preparation for the upcoming semester. She said every class on the schedule will have a combination of Zoom Classroom and spaced out seating depending on what the students’ preferences are.

ASU-Mountain Home will also continue to provide the usual online classes. Students in those classes will do their work via Blackboard and communicate with their instructors by email.
Some classes will require students to show up in-person for time in the laboratory. Nursing, automotive technology and welding are among those that will have to be taught on-site, but students will be brought in on a limited basis.
