New $5.7 million adult living facility at top of MH building permits in July

A $5.7 million adult living facility tops the list of building permits issued by the City of Mountain Home in July, according to a report from Jeannie Anderson from the Building Inspection Department. The permit was issued to Gregory and Company for Sycamore Adult Living Facility, a 35,817-square-foot project, to be located at 165 Jerry Baker Lane.

In May, the Mountain Home Planning Commission approved the rezoning of several tracts of land located near McCabe Park in the southwest corner of the city off of U.S. Highway 62/412 West where the facility will be located. The area includes tracts 1 and 2, which are located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 62/412 and the Sheid-Hopper Bypass, east of the park. Tract 1 is a 20-acre parcel. Tract 3 is located at the entrance of the park, and tract 4 is located east of Hayes Street and south of Meeks Lumber and Ultimate Auto Group, west of the park. The tracts cover 7.44 and 58.5 acres, respectively.

The permit for the adult living facility was one of 13 issued in July.

The second largest project is for a Dollar General to be located on U.S. Highway 62 West. The permit was issued to Van-Tassel Proctor for the 9,160-square-foot facility with a construction cost of $625,000.

Permits were issued for two single family homes. One of the two was issued to Bryan Bell for a 2,600-square-foot home to be constructed at 3006 East First Street for John and Linda Porter at a cost of $295,000. The second was issued to Shane Davis for a 2,591-square-foot home to be constructed at 59 Vermount Drive for Michael Davis at a cost of $208,000.

Five permits were issued for storage buildings, including one to Cook MBS for the Baxter County Detention Center. The construction cost of the 693-square-foot facility is $15,940.

Two permits were issued to Bald Eagle Barnes for a 448-square-foot storage building for James Gaffney, located at 306 Dyer Street, at a cost of $10,900 and for a 128-square-foot facility for Ronald Gunter, located at 1601 Monroe Avenue, at a cost of $3,100.

The remaining two permits for storage buildings were issued to Alan Smith for a 240-square-foot facility to be located at 308 West Sixth Street at a construction cost of $5,000 and to Clint Nichols for a 192-square-foot structure to be located at 1112 Overlook Drive at a construction cost of $1,000.

Three permits were for signs. Topping the list was a permit issued to Dijohn Design for Magnolia Studio on Ninth, located at 607 East Ninth Street, at a cost of $15,000; Sign Tech for Fit.One, located at 905 South Street, at a cost of $600; and Oxford Signs for North Town Plaza, located at 629 Arkansas Highway 201 North, at a cost of $300.

The remaining permit was issued to Wilbur McCasland for a driveway to be located at 609 Redbud at a cost of $300.

Total construction value of the 13 permits issued in July was $6.89 million.

The cost of all permits issued for the month of July totaled $12,114, including the actual cost of building, electric, mechanical and plumbing, as well as mowing.

The city building and inspection department handled 48 inspections for the month.
