SPRINGFIELD, MO. (AP) – A 17-year-old southwestern Missouri boy has died following a four-vehicle crash this weekend on U.S. Highway 65 in Springfield, police there said.
Cole David Tedford, 17, of Springfield, was driving a car northbound on a city street around 10:40 p.m. Saturday when the car suddenly accelerated, crashed through a fence and ended up in the northbound lanes of the highway facing southward, police said. The car was then hit head-on by another car, and both cars were then hit by two other vehicles traveling north on the highway.
Springfield police said Tedford died at the scene. The driver of the car that hit Tedford’s head-on suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
