LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) – Republicans are hoping to maintain their dominance in
Arkansas, with Sen. Tom Cotton running a reelection campaign that has all the
hallmarks of a 2024 White House bid. Few surprises were expected for Cotton or
President Donald Trump in solidly red Arkansas on Tuesday. The only Democrat
running against Cotton dropped out hours after the filing deadline last year.
Cotton’s only opponent is Libertarian nominee Ricky Dale Harrington. That has
freed up Cotton to run ads in battleground states and to campaign with more
endangered Senate colleagues. The election also features three ballot measures,
including a highway tax proposal.
