Arkansas had set a record for new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, but that mark was broken the next day. The Arkansas Department of Health is reporting 1,870 new cases Friday for a total of 119,230, and 706 patients are hospitalized for an increase of 39 from Thursday.
The health department is also reporting 19 additional deaths for a total of 2,056, and four more patients have been put on ventilators for a total of 107. There are 11,414 cases still active with 97,997 recoveries.
Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson said in a statement, “Today’s numbers show we are not in a good position as we head into the colder months. I ask all Arkansans to take this virus seriously and to take necessary precautions. Our number of new cases is growing at a rate that worries me in terms of our hospital capacity.”
