5 area football teams prepare for state playoffs

The postseason begins this week for high school football in Arkansas, and the season will continue for five area teams.

Mountain Home will be on the road Friday for its first game in the Class 6A State Playoffs in four years. The Bombers will head to Pine Bluff as the fifth-seeded team from the 6A-West. Mountain Home enters the postseason at 5-5. The Zebras are the No. 4 seed from the East with a mark of 4-3.

Three area teams will compete in the Class 3A State Playoffs. Mountain View will take part in a play-in game Friday traveling to Hackett, and the winner will make the trip to Booneville for a first-round game on Nov. 20. In the first round, Salem heads to Paris, and Melbourne hosts Cedarville.

Harrison will wait a week to find out who will come out of the play-in round to face them in the Class 5A State Playoffs. The Goblins will entertain either Beebe or Camden Fairview on Nov. 20.
