Police: Hit-and-run victim was left along roadway 2 days

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – Police in Kansas City believe the victim of a fatal hit-and-run crash was left lying on the side of a street for more than 48 hours before he was found.

No arrests have been made in the accident that happened just after midnight Friday near Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard and Elmwood Avenue.

Police said on Twitter that a speeding vehicle left the roadway and struck a pedestrian. Police released photos of the vehicle.

The Kansas City Star reports that it wasn’t until around 9 a.m. Sunday that someone called authorities to report the body near the road.
