Monday basketball results include Cotter winning 2 junior high girls’ games over Flippin

Cotter was able to pick up a pair of girls’ basketball victories over Flippin on the junior high level on Monday.
The Junior Lady Warriors topped the Junior Lady Bobcats 48-42 in the varsity game. Kylee Chastain led Cotter with 16 points, and Emma Jones added 13.
Cotter also edged out Flippin 21-20 in the seventh grade contest.

The Bakersfield High School teams had a tough opening night in the Cabool Basketball Classic. The Lady Lions fell to Koshkonong 60-44. Bakersfield’s boys were defeated by the host Bulldogs 56-44.

Gainesville’s girls had a good night on the home floor. The Lady Bulldogs topped Mountain Grove by a final of 52-42.

The Dora girls ended up with a rough home outing. The Lady Falcons lost to Hartville 58-38.

Monday’s action also featured a battle between girls’ teams ranked No. 1. Class 1A’s top-ranked Viola ended up falling to Class 2A’s top-ranked Melbourne 56-35.

Izard County’s boys suffered a loss in the Cougar Den. The Cougars fell to Greers Ferry West Side 68-63.

The Mammoth Spring High School teams dominated the home floor, as they took on Armorel.
The Bears beat up on the Tigers 80-53 in the boys’ game. Mammoth Spring was led by Cole Young with 26 points, Logan Doss scored 17, and Gavin Boddie chipped in 11. The Bears improve to 16-7 on the season and 6-2 in the 1A-3.
The girls’ contest was just as lopsided, as Mammoth Spring routed Armorel 60-32. Chevelle Graves was the Lady Bears’ top scorer with 20 points, Megyn Upton had 12, and Sara Crowe finished with 10. Mammoth Spring is now 9-8 overall and 4-0 in the league.

Lead Hill had mixed results on the road against Kingston. The Tigers breezed past the Yellowjackets 71-44 in the boys’ game. Lead Hill’s girls did not fare as well, as they lost to Kingston 60-35.
