Missouri State Highway Patrol unit in 2-vehicle accident; both drivers injured

A two-vehicle collision Friday evening in Ozark County involved a Missouri State Highway Patrol vehicle and resulted in injuries to both drivers. Thirty-three-year-old Trooper Jason Philpott of Willow Springs and 31-year-old Paige Hedquist of Mountain Grove were both transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

According to the highway patrol, both vehicles were nearly 11 miles north of Gainesville on Missouri Highway 5 as Trooper Philpott was attempting to pass Hedquist. Her pickup truck reportedly turned into the patrol vehicle’s path, causing the SUV to strike the truck in the rear.

Hedquist was transported to the hospital by air ambulance with moderate injuries. Philpott went to Springfield by a private vehicle with minor injuries.

Both vehicles were totaled in the 8:17 p.m. accident. The report states damage to the patrol unit is estimated at $20,000.
