The grant application window is open for Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s Blue & You Foundation mini-grants of $1,000.

According to its mission statement, the Blue & You Foundation is part of Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s heritage of caring and commitment to the better health of Arkansans.

Established in 2001 and wholly funded by Arkansas Blue Cross, the foundation is evidence of the company’s intention to provide caring solutions to the healthcare needs of Arkansans and advances the company’s commitment to corporate citizenship and the public good.

In addition to its regular grants program, the Blue & You Foundation offers a simpler application for $1,000 mini-grants to support health improvement projects in Arkansas.

While any health related activity is eligible, the foundation is receptive to receiving applications to fund the purchase of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) (PDF), Naloxone/Narcan kits for opioid overdoses and Stop the Bleed kits.

Applications for mini-grants will be through Feb. 15, with funding decisions made by March 15.

Applicants may receive only one mini-grant in a calendar year, and any organization that has received a mini-grant or regular grant from the Blue & You Foundation in the last two years is not eligible for a mini-grant. There is a two-year waiting period between mini-grants. For example, an organization that receives a mini-grant in January 2020, is not eligible to apply for another mini-grant until January 2022.

Any organization that has received foundation “mini-grant” funding for a specific program for a total of two years is not eligible to reapply for subsequent “mini-grant” funding for the same program. After two years of funding for the same program, an organization is still eligible to apply for funding of a different health program.
