Two brothers arrested recently for drug crimes are now facing charges stemming from a fight they had in which the two accused each other of being “snitches” for the police.

The altercation happened at a residence in the Midway area and was apparently triggered by the fact 29-year-old Matthew Kyle Ford had pointed the finger at his 23-year-old brother Sean David Ford as the source of methamphetamine which the younger sibling had overdosed on in late January.

When sheriff’s deputies arrived, they found evidence of the fight, including a skillet embedded in the drywall.

Matthew Ford is reported to have said he felt sorry for his younger brother because he had no place to go and invited him to spend the night.

The next day, Matthew Ford reported the two began arguing because his younger brother was angry that his older sibling had accused him of providing methamphetamine resulting in the overdose.

The verbal argument escalated to a physical confrontation “with items being thrown around the house.”

Matthew Ford said he was able to throw his younger sibling out of the residence at one point, but he had run to the back of the house and used a “splitting maul” in an attempt to smash the rear door.

When that didn’t work, Sean Ford allegedly went to the front of the house and kicked open the door.

Matthew Ford told law officers when his brother made entry to the house through the smashed front door, his pitbull attacked Sean Ford biting him in the leg.

At the time the first officer arrived, Sean Ford was reported to have been hitting the front door with a machete.

Sean Ford said his brother had attacked him. He said he tried to gather his belongings to leave, but his brother hit him in the face and threw him out of the house, before he could get all of his things gathered.

Sean Ford also alleged the house was “full of meth and needles,” and said he knows “where all of it is hidden,” according to the incident report.

The confrontation between the brothers continued even after they arrived at the county jail.

According to a report on the incident, Sean Ford was reported to have taken off his shoes and thrown them at his older brother in an attempt to hit him in the head.

Sean Ford was also said to have become argumentative with jail staff. The booking process for Matthew Ford was stopped until the brothers could be separated.

The initial incident took place on Jan. 31. A Baxter County sheriff’s deputy responded to a report of a drug overdose at a residence along Tafel Lane in the Midway area then shared by the brothers.

The deputy was told Matthew Ford was the person who had allegedly overdosed.

He told the deputy he had taken a “hot shot” containing approximately 30 units of methamphetamine by syringe, and that he had gotten the drug from his younger brother.

When the deputy arrived, he met Sean Ford outside the residence and was told everything was “fine.”

The deputy indicted to him that everything was apparently not fine, since his older brother, Matthew Ford, was on the phone with 911 from inside the house reporting he had overdosed.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Sean Ford denied he had supplied methamphetamine to his older brother.

Sean Ford was arrested at the scene and taken to the Baxter County Detention Center, while his older brother was taken to Baxter Regional Medical Center for treatment and then booked into jail.

Sean Ford is charged with aggravated assault on a family or household member, possession of drug paraphernalia, impairing the operation of a vital public facility and criminal mischief. His bond is now set at $15,000.

In addition to drug charges, Matthew Ford is charged with domestic battery. His bond on the new domestic battery charge is set at $500.

Matthew Ford is free on bond, while his brother remains in the county jail.
