The City of West Plains is under a citywide boil water order due to a loss of disinfectant for more than four hours, according to a social media post.
West Plains Schools say in a social media posting the district will have bottles of water available for students, but families are encouraged to send water with students for the school day Friday.
Under the boil notice, impacted customers are advised the water may be unsafe for human consumption. Water used for drinking or food preparation should be boiled briskly for one minute prior to use.
All ice cubes should be discarded. Only boiled water should be used for making ice.
Two consecutive days of safe water samples are required before the order will be lifted.
